JUNE 2019 | Give Us All The Sunshine | The Beauty Room Evansville

First things first... Happy Summer! And it's been a bit, so I want to say thanks for welcoming Anna to the team. It's been a beautiful thing. And we know summer is a season of different schedules and rhythms and more rest and more fun, so we hope you plan to take care of yourself and come see us!

Love the Sun, the Sun will Love You

The sun is not playing any games with us this summer. Most of us are in for something that requires less clothes most days and to hop in some swimwear the rest. We all want a glow from catching rays, but also don't want to end up compromising the only skin we have by roasting it to the point it looks like our favorite leather bag.

Today you get a permission slip. You know the ones you used to get back in the day or possibly the ones you're currently signing for little ones. This permission slip will grant you access to the sun without lingering shame of over indulgence or worse, sunburns for days. The only thing you have to do for a signature is to follow the advice below, and you are well on your way to guilt free fun in the sun.

The Beauty Room has a more holistic outlook on sun protection which means the sun is YOUR FRIEND. The kind of friend that loves you. Which means you need to not abuse it.

GIVE

attention to what you are using. If you are using traditional SPF, be sure to read the labels. You need Broad Spectrum that helps protect from UVA and UVB rays. Honestly, nothing over 30 SPF is going to be more beneficial if you are truly reapplying it when you're supposed to. Plant based oils that have natural SPF are the best route. Think about it... most plants are out here in the sun thriving! It's largely due to sinapate esters. It's totally worth an hour long google search if you want details. We absolutely swear by anything with Red Raspberry Seed Oil or Tamanu Oil for plant based protection.

LISTEN

to your body and how the sun reacts with it. It is really the simplest and best advice. Many want to slather on sunscreen thinking it gives them permission to stay in the sun longer. It does not. Our bodies are designed to tell us EVERYTHING we need to know. Once your skin is feeling pretty hot and you are getting flushed, it's time to head in or cover up.

While this is simple, yet amazing advice, check to see if it resonates with you. If so, follow up with your holistic MD on further advice for alternative sun protection practices.

SEPTEMBER 2015 | THE BEAUTY ROOM | Queen Bee Facial

September has arrived and I got one thing on my mind! National Honey Month!

September | National Honey Month

Talking to you Queen Bee!!!Soap Solutions & I talk the beauty that is Honey and National Honey Month

Posted by The Beauty Room on Thursday, September 3, 2015

You've heard it before, but I am here to reiterate how magical honey is.
So many benefits: Full of enzymes, mineral, vitamins , It has anti- inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties which are great topically and internally. My favorite aspect of it is that is high in gluconic acid, which helps dissolve the glue that holds the dead skin cells together on top of your skin. So it is great for a mild yet effective deep cleanse. It is also a natural humectant so it helps draw moisture to your skin. Basically, if you want fabulous skin you need to get you some RAW honey! So now that I have shared why it's so amazing here is the special for this month!

Queen Bee Facial

Live like royalty with this facial fit for a Queen...Bee that is. This completely natural  facial uses honey to give your skin a deep cleanse, a relaxing yet effective massage to increase circulation and royal jelly masque to get your skin glowing. $50

SWEET ON THESE PRODUCTS...

This Brand I picked up at LiveWell in Newburgh. They have a really knowledgeable staff to help you choose some natural wellness alternatives to incorporate into your lifestyle.

It is inexpensive, "unheated, unfiltered and unprocessed straight-from-the-hive honey". Which is exactly what you want when you are thinking about taking it internally. I like having a good raw honey on hand to add to my clay mask or dab some right on my breakouts. The anti- bacterial and anti - inflammatory  properties help you notice a difference right away!  I also keep some in my kitchen for my morning tea!

The Beauty Room & Soap Solutions teamed up for a facial care line and this is one of our staples. The cleansing grains are gentle way to exfoliate the skin and soothe it simultaneously. We have incorporated powdered honey into this for those who aren't necessarily a fan of the sticky feel that comes with honey. You still get all the benefits just in a dry powdered form!

I absolutely love Laurel Whole Plant Organics & I am happy to announce I will be carrying the line in very soon at The Beauty Room. I love this pre-mixed mask has the added benefits of Strawberry, royal jelly and Grapefruit all super great ingredients for brightening your skin and your spirit!

I'll meet you at The Beauty Room for your honey fix!

Blossoming Beauty Workshop Wrap Up

It is no big secret. I have been known to not be that fond of the younger generation.

I am just not a kid person. Things have been changing in the past few months though, as I have been working closely with my girlfriend Kassy who owns a dress boutique that specializes in prom dresses. Having more high school age ladies in my Beauty Room this year I've gotten to get to know a little bit more of their lifestyles and how they think.

The real defining moment of me wanting to work with young women came when a girl & her mom, people I had NEVER met, came up to me in Michael's Craft Store (my obsession), and proceeded to tell me that they follow on me on Instagram & find me to be inspiring.

Me? Inspiring? To an 12 year old girl? The rest of that day mind was blown. I got up the next day and thought of ways I could give back to this girl and any others that I had no idea were looking up to me. I decided to take my Knowledge & Love of Beauty and teach them that! The Blossoming Beauty Workshop was born!

They say the best way to learn, is to teach. This proved to be right after hosting my first Blossoming Beauty Natural Skin Care, Makeup & Wellness Workshop.  In getting ready to teach these young ladies to beautify themselves utilizing natural products I learned a lot about myself and the values I'd like to voice from an nontraditional makeup artist and esthetics viewpoint. Everything we ever need comes right from the earth. I'd like to teach more of this to the girls that get bombarded daily with products that are promising a quick fix, but in the long run harming their beautiful vessels.

Here are some highlights from the Workshop. Whitney Hames of Bad Apple Nutrition also joined us to tell us what to eat for beautiful skin!

I loved it and I can't wait to host another!

What would you all like the next one to cover?
