Super Skin Sunday at The Beauty Room Evansville

Super Skin Sunday is a time to bask in all your natural glory and learn not only to care for your skin, but how to take care of your spirit.

Carving out time to care for yourself is a small, but powerful act that has a ripple effect on your life. When you feel cared for, your cup will run over and you be ready to share that feeling with the world.

The Season of Giving Continues | January Special | The Beauty Room

NEW is the hot word for January. Whether it be a new workout regimen, new clothes from holiday gifts or a new job. January is the big reboot month for everyone.
Getting new things can be good for a change of pace. I mean, who doesn't love werk'in it in a new skirt that hugs them just right or wearing a new lipstick shade that brings life to their face? We all do.

As we get all of this new stuff, how are you making room for it? There are so many things that I bet aren't serving you anymore. As I was going through my clothes last night and cleaning out my makeup this morning I realized how much stuff I haven't worn in ages or haven't used at all.

I participated in a photo shoot last month (that will be featured in Love IT! Evv Magazine, yippie!) called Reuse, Repurpose, Reimagine. We used vintage dresses and some upcycled jewelry to dress the models. One of the former owners of the dresses was so thrilled to let us use the dresses, because although beautiful they weren't serving her anymore.
I want us all to use this concept this month and really all year! Instead of holding on to things we don't use why don't we pass them on to those who can enjoy them & put them to use!

I found a great local non- profit organization called the House of Bread & Peace. They help women get back on their feet and find jobs and homes. I think this is amazing. I am donating new & unused makeup and also gently worn business casual clothes to this organization to help these women have the same feeling that I have when I get dressed, and that's the power to take on the world.
If you would like to join me in donating, bring your gently worn business casual clothing, unused and sealed makeup, boxes of tampons or pads, deodorant, really just anything that a woman would need to get ready for her day. I will give you $10 to use towards your appointment with me! You give, I give, we all give!! And guess what? We all WIN too!!

So here's to a fabulous 2015 & let the giving season continue!

Other Happenings for January 2015

Products you may want to try this month are :

SKINCARE: Soap Solutions Perfectly Polished - It's still dry skin season. If you're wondering why the extra moisture you're putting on isn't soaking in, 9 times out of 10 you have flaky dead layers of skin blocking your healthy tissue. The best way to remedy that is with an exfoliator. This all natural mix of herbs & clay is perfect for gently removing dead cells.

MAKEUP : BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed good lord it is one of the most beautiful highlighters I have EVER used! I am obsessed! Give this a good swipe on the top of your cheekbones, right under your brows & on the in corners of your eyes. Be light handed as it is very pigmented! A little goes a long way!

The winner of Makeover Monday is Katie Slepsky!!
You too can enter to WIN a FREE facial or Makeup Lesson HERE! It will be announced the first Monday of each month!

The Happy Chronicles | My Girls | 21 Days of Open Letters

After watching an excessive stretch of OWN TV I am now even more obsessed with Oprah. So I thought about implementing more stuff that I am learning from her & her guests.

On her segment with Shawn Anchor on Super Soul Sunday, he suggested once a day for the next 21 days emailing, tweeting, or calling a person you know and basically spending 2 minutes telling them how awesome they are. Not only does it give them a boost, but you as well & can even play a factor in prolonging your life! I am compelled to give his idea a try. I've decided to do open letters on my blog for people that cross my mind. =)

To my beautiful brown girls,

It's going to take me more than 2 minutes to write this, but you are well worth it! Since this afternoon when it was brought to my attention that one or many more of you are out there watching me, growing with me and sending me your wishes; I just want you to know that I value YOU!

I encourage all of you to learn more about this amazing woman Maya Angelou

I encourage all of you to learn more about this amazing woman Maya Angelou

I want you to know that you can be WHATEVER you want to be.

I want you to know when people tell you no for opportunities you want, do not feel discouraged because it is getting you closer to a YES. Things will be get hard, because things of value don't always come easy.  I want you to know that you will make lots of mistakes and there is no shame in that, because it's a part of life.Things tend to be a little harder for us because of the world we live in, BUT don't EVER for a second let anyone make you feel that you are not good enough!! A big thing you should also know is that you are BEAUTIFUL. Nothing can compare to the beautiful way God has designed YOU. You may not see it or feel it right now, but you are. Although I know you are bombarded daily with what you think you are supposed to look like, there is NO comparison to you! You are powerful, you are limitless & you know how I know all this?

Because I am you.

Sending you all my LOVE & I can't wait to connect with more of you,

With an incredibly talented woman to feature for #wcw this week. I worked with Jamie earlier this year to create an uber special gift for my bridal clients. I was amazed by how she could take random things and craft them into beautiful masterpieces.

Learn some more about Jamie by checking out the vid below as she answers how she got into Silent Salvation, one piece of advice she would leave with her daughter, a woman she looks up to & her favorite local restaurant!!
